Supporting the Social-Emotional Development of Children with Disabilities through Art Studies
8-session on-line workshop with art educators. In this meeting, what kind of activities and applications should be for children will be discussed and planned. Things to do with children will be planned. “Social Emotional Development Assessment Form of Disabled Children” will be developed.
Activities to be Made with Children: Children with disabilities created as a result of workshops will be able to participate in art education workshops at the museum (such as drama…). Art education studies will be carried out at the same time with children in Turkey and other participating countries.
Activities with Adults: project participants will discuss various aspects of the social cohesion of children with disabilities. Solution suggestions will be presented.
Where to do it: Painting and Sculpture Museum in Izmir and 3 different associations or organizations in at least 3 different countries.
What kind of practice it will be: children with disabilities will visit children's museums in different countries online. Art events will be implemented. Activities with children will be shared in museums. Differences in emotional social development of disabled children before and after art education will be explored. The "Social Emotional Development Assessment Form of Disabled Children" developed for this research will be used.
Assoc. Dr. Zeynep DERE has a work related to mainstreaming, published as an international book chapter. She is also the editor of the book "Art Education in Early Childhood Period".
