Looking for partners: VR against Racism – Virtual Roleplays to Train Confrontations with Racist Prejudices
Discriminatory behaviors and resentments are present in all parts of society. Already in schools, we often experience forms of racism that may not consist of malice, but of unconscious ignorance of the meaning and consequences of racist acts.
With "VR against Racism" we offer an interactive 360-degree VR-training for the use in school classes and in youth work. We use the immersive effects of virtual reality to enable students to recognize racism as such, offer trainings on how to deal with racist statements in everyday life and empower students to consciously counter racism.
With our project we aim to strengthen empathy, intercultural competences and a deeper understanding of democracy while at the same time promoting key competencies for the transition from school to work. The VR-training complements existing anti-discrimination measures and can be flexibly integrated into existing subjects, such as ethics, politics or history classes. Schools will have access to modern technology without having to make major purchases and adjustments to the existing technical infrastructure.
Currently we are looking for youth centres, organizations in the area of anti-discrimination work and schools, who are interested in (digital) anti-discrimination work and would like to participate in the project.
We are open for ideas and your contributions to the project.
