Course Description
New teachers often discover that real teaching differs from the ideal picture they made of it over the years. This is a common feeling possibly leading to disillusion. New teachers are highly motivated but can struggle confronted with the critical situations they face at school.
This course has been designed to provide new teachers with useful tips and practical tools to navigate in nowadays’ school. Accordingly, participants will review the most significant challenges for beginning teachers, and receive practical prompts to develop their personal solutions.
By being engaged in discussion, participants will reflect on the duties and rights of the profession, and what are their limits. Taking part in hands-on activities, they will acquire effective tools to structure and deliver a lesson. They will also learn how to observe their behavior in the classroom and progressively modify it.
Participants will also discuss what really motivates the students, and acquire new strategies to provide constructive feedback, manage conflicts, and engage students in their lessons.
Finally, they will be presented with a range of collaborative learning activities and ways of assessment that will enrich their personal portfolio of teaching methods.
By the end of the course, the participants will gain confidence in what to do in the classroom. Moreover, they will have acquired important tools to guide their career and maintain long-term motivation.
