The Child First: Montessori, Reggio Emilia System and Contemporary Approaches to Pre-School Education - Florence

I probably had other expectations regarding the course. Being a Montessori course in Italy, I thought I would see more materials and be more practical. It was too theoretical.

It was a nice experience but I expected to learn more practical knowleges, get more resources and put into practice some of the content so that I can later apply it in my school classes.

El curso fue demasiado teórico y con poca profundidad. Además el curso trataba, entre otras cosas, de Reggio Emilia y no se visitó el centro (estando a menos de 2 horas del centro, siendo la entrada gratuita y siendo pocos participantes en el curso). En cambio, se organizaron actividades como una cata de vinos con fines claramente comerciales.

El curso fue demasiado teórico y la formadora no fue capaz de reconducir. No se aprovecharon los recursos del entorno como es Reggio Emilia.

Waldorf (Steiner) education, the Montessori Method and Loris Malaguzzi’s Reggio Emilia method will be discussed in an interactive way. This will include comparing the different theories and involving participants in an active reflection about their way of teaching and the importance of the child being the protagonist of his/her development. A part of the course will be dedicated to Bruno Munari’s method “Playing with Art”.

The course was inspiring which focuses on preschool approaches in a critical way. During the course, we compared and evaluated different preschool approaches with pros and cons. We explored the life of Maria Montessori, The Reggio Emilia Approach, Bruno Munari's method and some other names and methods in preschool education. We studied these approaches in a critical way coming up the conclusion that there is no magical approach to education. All these approaches has different applications and requires different physical conditions, materials and staff. We should evaluate each approach by its own differences, conditions... The instructor was professional that she had a good knowledge about subject. Participants from different countries made contributions to the course with examples from their countries and educational systems. The instructor also supported the course with different materials like videos, pictures, articles and hands-on activities. Overall, the course was satisfying and gave insight to learn more detail about the subjects. The people in the institution (Europass Teacher Academy) was so helpful and kind. They managed the course and other activities very well. They included cultural activities in the course. They organized guided visits to the city center and nearby cities after the course sessions.

The course allowed me to take a critical look at contemporary approaches used in preschool education. It contributed to my awareness of the life of Maria Montessori and the different methods and names used in preschool such as Montessori Method, Reggio Emilia Approach, Bruno Munari's Method. Thanks to this course, I heard from an expert about different approaches and methods used in pre-school education and had the opportunity to compare with each other. And thanks to this course, I learned that there is not a single method and method valid in pre-school education, each has its pros and cons, and each method requires different expertise, work areas and equipment. Thanks to the lectures of the participants from different countries, we were informed about the education system in their countries and the methods they used in education. The people at The Europass Teacher Academy were very helpful and kind. The trainer was well-equipped and her narration was very fluent. It was a very good experience for me that the course included cultural activities. In my opinion, it was a full-fledged education in every sense.

The course was informative and interesting. Meeting and exchanging information with educators from other countries was a different and good experience. With a well-organized course center and a sweet teacher, the lessons were efficient and enjoyable. Montessori and Reggio Emilia Approach,with Bruno Munari's training We got enough information about their approaches. The course was very good both in terms of physical, knowledge and trainers. Our course provider was very equipped and friendly in this regard. Cultural activities also pleased me. In short, I am satisfied with the course by gaining a lot of experience and information. I can say that I left somehow.
