MiCREATE – Migrant Children and Communities in a Transforming Europe

Attēls: Micreate logo

The objective of the MiCREATE project is to encourage the inclusion of diverse groups of migrant children by adopting a child-centred approach to the integration of migrant children at educational and policy level. Stemming from the need to revisit the existing integration policies, the research project aims to comprehensively examine the contemporary integration processes of migrant children to enhance their agency, participation, and well-being.

The MiCREATE activities produced various outcomes aimed at building the capacity and awareness of teachers and education staff, and professionals and other adults who regularly come into contact with migrant children to better assess risks and meet the specific needs of migrant children in host societies.

Some projects include: The Handbook for Teachers (Tools for Diversity Management), which is a guide to help teachers address the challenges they may face when working with migrant children and introduces them to a range of approaches and practices specifically developed for the context of the multicultural classroom, the awareness-raising tool IC ‘Multiculturalism at school’, the Digital Storytelling Toolpolicy briefs and videos highlighting gaps and barriers to child-centred integration policies in existing policy frameworks and integration practices in each country and at EU level, and several reports.
