Course Description

Nowadays educators in every school support students with diverse learning needs. It can be challenging to craft learning opportunities that meet the needs of such a wide variety of learners. Towards this direction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) aims to ensure all students have full access to the educational environment, regardless of their needs and abilities. In terms of instructional design, Differentiation is a strategy that addresses each student’s individual levels of readiness, interest, and learning profiles.

The course has been tailored for teachers who seek to learn more about the approach of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and the strategy of Differentiation in order to design an accessible educational framework that addresses the diverse needs of all students (e.g. students with special needs, migrants) and ensures their educational and social inclusion.

We learned a lot about how to differentiate in class, both in theory and in practice. We got plenty of practical examples. Our the teacher, Jackie, was very professional and experienced. Exchanging good examples with other teachers from different countries was very valuable. The classroom was not acoustically in order and every day was a torture for people who are hard of hearing or easily overstimulated. The organization has promised to do something about this.

The course was well organized with many examples from theory and practice. Τhe space was large and pleasant, suitable for experiential activities. The trainer was experienced and used a variety of means to activate the team.

The course was about Differentiated Learning and Universal Design. It was an interesting course that helped us design a lesson plan according to students' special needs and interests. Our instructor was very explicit and helped all the participants to share their knowledge and experiences of their educational system.

My experience during the course was incredible and I could learn new methodologies in order to engage my students in class. Also I could work the learning variability in order to create a good learning environment. And one of the most important point was the description and the use of the UDL and learn how I can design lessons with this planner.
