Drama Techniques: Developing Self-Expression, Communication and Social Skills for all Students - Athens

Rating: 0/5

«You cannot learn art or gain wisdom without education» Demokritos, 470-370 BC, an Ancient Greek philosopher

“Education, at its most engaging, is performance art” Jessica Lahey.

The course has been created for teachers and other school staff members, interested in using drama techniques in their classrooms. Participants will be active protagonists since they will encounter an educational experience centered on their own ability. Objectives will be carried out through theatre exercises, improvisations, simulations, storytelling, somatic (body) techniques, games, group work.

The aim of the workshop is for participants to acquire competences to coordinate and activate groups in terms of emotional management in an entertaining and creative way and apply expressive tools in different educational contexts.

The course addresses as well, the needs of students who have difficulties with their social and communicative skills (e.g. Students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, emotional and behavioral difficulties). Additionally, since theatre experiences have had significant and positive improvement in the development of social, communication and presentation skills (soft skills), drama can be a powerful learning medium for all children.

The implementation of these techniques will boost participation and motivation in the classroom, self-expression, cooperative spirit, conflict resolution skills and reinforcement of the teacher-student relationship, among others. Participants will learn to take the role of facilitators rather than teachers so they could develop their students’ self-directed learning skills and turn them into protagonists of their own learning.

All our courses in Athens include: a visit in the Acropolis Museum and a three hour walking tour that will give you an insight of the significance of the historic monuments of Acropolis as well as other significant sights of the historic center of Athens including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Agora and Plaka.

July and August courses will take place in Nafplio.
