English Language and Culture Course - Dublin
Course held at the partner school:
English Language Istitute - Dublin
Do you need to improve your English? This course is for you!
As a participant, you will attend 20 hours of morning sessions of our partner Language School in a class composed by other teachers and students. Classes will be tailored to your language competences and needs: you can start your exploration with us if you are a beginner or you can dig deeper into the most problematic and interesting issues if your level is more advanced. In addition, only teachers will take part to afternoon activities focusing on local culture and history.
The course will bring a gust of fresh air in your profession. By its end, you will have expanded your knowledge about English language by observing and absorbing authentic communication practices, supported by local professional tutors. Furthermore, by stepping into a student’s shoes, you will have observed a class from a different perspective, and you will be more ready to reflect on your profession, and possibly modify your professional attitudes.

The course was really bad. We did have language tests before the course but still both groups had both beginners and advanced students in them, everybody having the same tasks which meant it wasn´t really useful to anybody. The classes were not planned at all. An example of a course day: The topic of the morning is Oscar Wilde. The teacher wants to show us a video about him but isn´t able to. Instead she asks us to google the author. Then one of the participants is asked to tell us what he knows about him. Then we walk to Oscar Wilde statue and have a task to choose the quote we like the best. That´s it, our introduction to the topic. Nothing was done with the quotes later on either. How is this called teacher training when I would be ashamed to present anything like that to my own teenage students...
