Student-centered Classroom: Teachers as Promoters of Active Learning! - Berlin

Rating: 5/56 users

This course has been created for teachers who want to learn more about managing an effective and up to date classroom that encourages participation and engaged learning using the latest techniques.

Through interactive activities, participants will learn how to promote a student-centred learning environment. Student-centred methods have been proven to be superior to the traditional teacher-centred approach to education. Student-centred methods sustain both students’ autonomy and cooperation. They also facilitate short and long-term memory, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, self-confidence and motivation.

By the end of the course, participants will not only have acquired more knowledge about student-centred approaches, but they will also be able to take away ideas about practical, innovative solution to apply in their classrooms.

- Awareness about what supports effective learning;
- Choosing practical solutions to encourage students to solve problems, formulate complex questions, debate, explain and brainstorm during class;
- Managing and evaluating team-work while students are involved in cooperative projects and problem-solving tasks;
- Supporting students in facing challenges and in learning by doing;
- Theoretical knowledge and practical skills about new methods such as: the Flipped Classroom, Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Case-Based Instruction, Discovery Learning.

All our courses in Berlin include a city guided tour + 1 full day Excursion (usually on Saturday).

The course I have attended to has been very interesting and motivating. I have learned different methodologies in the students centred classroom and used apps to improve my teaching practise with success. The teacher has helped us and has made the lessons easy and motivating, creating a nice atmosfera of cooperation among all the participans. All participans share their experiences and could debate different points of view of subjects we are concerned about

The course has been of great help because we have practised different methodologies to make students be the centre of the learning process. I have learned about flipped classrooms and applications to use in the lessons to motivate our students and make them more autonomous. Moreover, we have shared our teaching practices and knowledge of cooperative method with other colleagues from Europe and overseas who have been very active and enthusiastic in the activities proposed. Finally, the teacher has been very helpful and has created a really nice atmosphere of work and creativity between the participants.

The course was very interesting, especially because the course participants were eager to work together, exchange best practices, share different points of view and tackle positive and critical aspects when applying new methodologies with students. We had the opportunity to experience activities related to the content of the course, always supported by a very professional and nice teacher trainer!

The contents of the course were interesting, though not implemented fully. We spent too much time on trying new apps, it looked like every day was the same. I expected much more of a program like this, especially more strictness. Good experience-sharing among participants from different countries and interesting aspects to reflect on.
