Competences for a Modern Teacher: a Path from Teaching to Learning

Many European countries are undergoing curricular reforms. One of the buzz words associated with the process is competence. Modern teachers are expected to develop competences of their learners. What are the implications for a regular teacher? How are the competences different from the knowledge and skills that have always been present in the curriculum? In what way should the educational process change to ensure that learner competences are developed?
The course aims to answer the above questions through considering specific examples from various subjects and age groups and inviting participants to participate in hands-on activities aimed at re-orientating their own teaching and making it more competence-based.
