From Stockholm to Tallinn: the north between east and west

The chain project in general tries to bring about knowledge and understanding about European cultural heritage, in its divergence, its coherence and its interdependence with other parts of the world. In this way also a conceptual framework of European heritage education is being developed. In various parts of Europe this interaction is physically materialised by way of 'travelling courses'.
In the 'From Stockholm to Tallinn' course the object is the interaction between various influences in the northern part of the Baltic Sea: geology and geography of the region, language diversity and migration, Vikings and Hanseatic League, Swedish and Russian/Sovjet spheres of influence in religion, politics and culture. A connecting line is formed by the sea and ships.
