Course Description
The pandemic situation all over the world challenged schools with lockdowns forcing them to move to inexperienced teaching modalities. This negatively impacted both students’ and teachers’ life as well as academic performance. Nonetheless, the pandemic also revealed the drawbacks of pre-pandemic school and created new opportunities to adapt and develop.
The course aims to provide teachers with useful tips and tools about how to successfully come back to “normality,” and re(dis)cover real school activities. At the same time, it will attempt to take profit from the pandemic, and acknowledge its unexpected but positive outcomes in promoting innovation in teaching methodologies.
The pandemic partially disaccustomed all of us to social relations. However, when students and teachers came back to school after the lockdown, they all acknowledged that face-to-face communication is irreplaceable.
The course will take profit of this undeniable acquisition, and illustrate effective strategies to promote emotional intelligence and socio-emotional education. Participants will also receive practical training on how to help students recover and readapt, and how to keep them motivated and collaborative.
The pandemic also imposed a strong push toward distance learning in the educational systems. The course will take this conclusion as a start for reflecting on how we should merge face-to-face and remote education from now on. Participants will gain practical understanding of effective digital tools for efficient hybrid (blended) learning.
Finally, participants will visit a local school that profited from all the lessons proposed in the course. Thus, they will have the chance to touch with hand how schools can re(dis)cover education after the pandemic, and compare the different educational systems with colleagues from other countries.
