Project Based Learning in the Classroom: Setup, Integration and Reflection - Berlin

Rating: 5/510 users

This course has been created for educators who want to learn more about Project Based Learning (PBL) and how they can integrate this topic into their lessons and school curriculum using the latest techniques and classroom tools.

In this engaging and hands-on course, participants will gain an understanding of what Project Based Learning is, which tools are best for integrating PBL in to your lessons, how to monitor and assess students using PBL and reflect on how educators can integrate PBL into their own teaching practices.

By the end of this course, students will have gained greater insight into PBL projects for the classroom and how to integrate PBL into their lessons. They will become more confident in their own teaching and assessments and will take away ideas on how to integrate PBL into their classroom and school curriculum.
In addition, course participants will walk away with a working PBL model and provided with all the necessary components needed to carry out their project at their own school. They will also learn more about the PBL process and become more confident with initiating and starting other projects within their own school, local community, or other teachers within the EU.

Guided city tours and excursions will also be part of the programme.

I really enjoyed attending this course. PBL it's a way to improve our classes and the relationship with our students, not only on the subject matters but also on the social level. The technological tools might enhance our classes and maybe the PBL implemented.

The course was a quite practical aproach. We were working in our proyect during the course, in orden to we could perform this proyect in our classroom. The couse in centred in basic aspects of PBL. If you want to go further this course probably will not help.

During the "Project Based Learning" course I attend in Berlin (April 8th-13th) I improved my competence in designing PBL units, working on the driving questions, the schedule, the assessment, the outcome and evaluation, planning every single step. I improved my competences on Cooperative Learning methodology. I also gained skills on using some useful open-source Apps such as Mentimeter, Socrative, Padlet and more. During the six days course I also had to design my own PBL unit which I presented (as multimedia presentation) to the instructor and colleagues on the last day of the course. About the experience, I enjoyed the cultural exchange with colleagues coming from other countries and school systems. I also enjoyed using the English language as the only way to communicate as I could practice more my knowledge and pronunciation of the language in a real contest. I liked having time to reflect on my way of teaching and think of new ways to improve it, trying out some new and more engaging methodologies and/or online useful tools. I didn't like the fact that we were only 5 participants, two of them italians (same nationality as me). I hoped to be part of a slightly bigger group (8/10 people) coming from different countries to get a more interesting and vivid cultural exchange. During a one week Course, it would be good to have one or two lessons in the afternoon as one could enjoy a visit to a museum or an historical site in the morning too, rather than concentrate these activities always in the afternoon. A more flexible time-schedule would be perfect, for example: 3 days Course activity in the morning and 2 days Course activity in the afternoon. If I have to summarize the whole experience, I can only express positive comments, I absolutely recommend it to you for all the reasons mentioned above and, of course, a lot more... that you have to find out! Would I do it again? Yes, absolutely.

I really feel capable now of implementing this innovative method of teaching into my classroom. I learned a lot not only from my trainer but also from my newly found friends from Poland, Spain and Belgium. The rather poor classroom equipment prevented us from being totally interactive.
