Innovative Methodologies for the development of soft skills

Rating: 0/5

The participants will work on two learning models that use the method of cooperative and experiential training for the development of Soft Skills and Empowerment. Soft Skills are indispensable tools for dealing with work scenarios and developing a sense of self-confidence. In fact, as shown by the research conducted "The effect of soft skills and training methodology on employee performance" (European Journal of Training and Development), possessing the fundamental cognitive, social, emotional and relational skills is a predictor of good professional performance and can be an important value in order to increase the opportunities of a person.
The experiential methodologies covered are as follows, participants will be able to use them with their students for soft skills learning:

Improvisational theatre for the development of soft skills.
It is a methodology that uses techniques of improvisational theater. Some of the basic skills that this discipline develops are: ability to listen, to be aware of ourselves and others, communicate clearly, have confidence, support, understand when it’s ok to be instinctive. All skills that are functional to the individual. Participants will learn about the practical activity and will learn how to analyze the emerged dynamics in order to activate the reflection and transposition of the workshop experience.
The activity will focus on the acquisition of the following transversal skills in the field of cooperative learning:
- Getting out of the comfort zone and accepting failure as part of the process,
- Knowing how to make choices,
- Experience the creative approach to crisis,
- Recognizing opportunities and practicing problem solving,
- Public speaking,
- Managing the stress of an interview,
- Capture attention and maintain interest,
- Manage body language and voice

2) Edugames (Educational Game) for the development of transversal skills:
In the last century psychologists and educators like J. Bruner have analyzed the game highlighting its role in learning. The game is defined by experts as "research and experimentation that allows the development of individual skills "guided" by the environment and relationships and as a possibility for innovation in the cognitive-relational field. “Playing" therefore allows the introduction of new skills, even in adults. Keeping the focus on the established goals, edugames are designed in such a way as to guide the learner in a learning path through interactive play. The edugame allows the user to learn from his or her experiences and modify his or her way of acting as a result. Maximum importance will be given to the identification of measurable objectives and metacognitive reflections will be carried out in itinere to see how to calibrate the path.
The activity will focus on the acquisition of the following transversal skills in the field of cooperative learning:
-Value and integrate proposals and accept different points of view
-Developing active listening
- Developing effective communication and assertiveness
- Breaking down problems into a set of smaller problems that are more easily solved
- Creative approaches to crisis situations - techniques for overcoming crisis/failure situations-Problem based learning
