Inclusive education: tackling with classroom diversity and early school leaving (5 days course)
>> Scope: Managing diversity in classrooms, supporting all students with individual education plans, prevention of early school leaving.
>> Aim: The Inclusive education training course tackles the issue of inclusion of students with diverse characteristics and needs into the classroom, i.e. students with learning difficulties and special learning needs, gifted students and early school leavers. It proposes methodologies for an inclusion strategy at classroom level as well as development of Individual Education Plans.
The learning content of the course is party based on the European project “PPS – Personal Profile and Support for Learners” (Leonardo da Vinci, 2004-2006) and it has been extended to cover the needs of participants in the different countries.
Starting from 2020, the course duration is 7 days.

>> Methodology and learning material: The preparation phase includes a learning needs analysis that is being conducted with a standardised questionnaire.
The course instruction applies active learning techniques, such as: case studies, activities in small groups and experiential activities. A study visit is organised in a special education school, where the participants have the chance to talk with the teachers and ask them questions on strategic planning and everyday challenges that they face. At the end of the course, the participants leave with their own action plan.
The learning material consists of presentations and support material, in English language.
As a follow up, the participants are invited to join our Facebook group and network with other participants of IDEC courses. The participants of the Facebook group are exchanging ideas and practices regularly and often are asked to join new European projects, based on their interests. IDEC staff will provide all necessary support to facilitate your entry into new European project proposals.

School classrooms are as diverse as the society, they include all types of students with different personalities, abilities and socioeconomic background. The challenge of the school of 21th century is to provide high quality learning opportunities to all students, so that they can reach their full potential.
The course Inclusive education: tackling with classroom diversity and early school leaving is relevant for all teachers and trainers in general education and vocational education and it is not restricted to teachers in special education schools. Every teacher will have in his/her classroom students that face learning difficulties at different levels, gifted students or students facing socioeconomic challenges and drop outs. All teachers need strategies to integrate these students, without compromising the quality of education offered for all students.
The course attempts to provide to educators with the relevant theories and practical tools to design both classroom strategies and individual approaches for specific students.
The course organiser, IDEC is an organization with great experience in European projects, having participated in more than 300 European projects and has cooperated with more than 700 organisations from all over Europe, since the 90s. By joining this course, you will be supported in placing your organisation into the framework of European projects, joining the Facebook group and networking with other course participants.
