Learning Objectives/Outcomes:


Acquire basic concepts of LEGO® Learning System;
Engage immediately and begin building core programming and problem-solving skills before undertaking more ambitious open-ended projects later in the robotics education;
Use programming as a creative tool;
Develop teamwork skills;
Developing scientific and technological understanding, required by personal and societal decisions in the 21st century;
Teaching students computational thinking and focuses on the real world applications of problem solving;
Connect computing within economic, social, and cultural contexts;
Learn how to construct a robot, connect and use the programming interface, understand and control the various sensors and motors, and how to create and run programs;
Set the foundation for building the imagination and creativity that are fundamental to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, also known as STEAM;
Providing standards-based structured inquiry-based and real world problem-based learning, connecting all four of the STEAM subjects;
Bridging in-school and out-of-school STEAM opportunities;
Apply Decision-Making Structures and Problem-solving strategies;
Learn the thought process behind creating a program, basic programming functions, and how they relate to robotic actions and reactions;
Developing the deep mathematical, technological and scientific underpinnings students need to be competitive in the 21st-century workforce;
Implement and utilize LEGO® Education solutions in day-to-day teaching;
Align the use of the material to curriculum standards;
Create lesson plans according our 4C approach to learning;
Understand how to teach STEM using LEGO Education Spike Essential tools;
Feel confident using the hardware, software and curriculum resources;
Get hands-on experience by working on engaging activities from a student perspective;
Become familiar with the curriculum relevance of the materials;
Take in the LEGO Education approach to learning;
Gain ideas for how to facilitate encouraging hands-on lessons, supporting your students to build and improve 21st century skills;
Develop effective techniques to implement LEGO Education Spike Essential in the classroom, including lesson planning and classroom management;
Intentionally incorporating different subjects across an existing curriculum;
Understand how LEGO Education Spike Essential resources facilitate students’ learning;
Explore a range of different subjects and project types;
Learn to work with the software and gain hands-on experience;
Gain a strong understanding of LEGO Education learning methodology.
