We Need All Youngsters

The Danish initiative 'We Need All Youngsters' has been running since 2003. It is addressed to young people (13 ? 20 years) with an ethnic minority background, who are marginalized and at risk of not completing education. The main aim of the initiative is to increase the number of these young people in youth education and to encourage them to complete their youth educational programmes.
The Danish Initiative 'We Need All Youngsters' (Brug for alle unge) was launched in 2002 by the Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration Affairs, and since 2011 it has been overseen by the Ministry of Education. The initiative targets young people of non-Danish origin, with a focus on those from disadvantaged ethnic backgrounds living in deprived urban areas. Its primary objective is to support young people complete their education.
The campaign includes a wide range of activities (from homework cafés to role models groups), all with the common purpose of changing young people attitudes towards education. Reaching out to parents is also an essential component of the initiative. A holistic approach and a strong local anchorage are among the most prominent features of this initiative. More details on the programme, its target beneficiaries, methods used and results from various years are provided in the documents below.
Among project outputs are teaching materials “In seven of mind” for primary schools, accompanied by short films with personal stories (in Danish):
"i 7 sind": Hvad vi du være BÜLENT ÖZDEMIR?
"i 7 sind": SERHAT - mandag efter arbejde
"i 7 sind": MOHAMMAD - mit system
"i 7 sind": KHADIJA og kærligheden
