This thematic report presents the perspectives of different stakeholders and a number of important conclusions concerning the motivation, competence development and ongoing career support of school leaders and school heads in particular.
In 2019, experts came together in Brussels to discuss the competences and careers of school leaders, in order to help inform policymakers in European school education. The role of the school head, in particular, is a position of significant responsibility but also of opportunity in guiding school and staff development.
The work forms part of the mandate of the ET2020 Working Group Schools, comprising representatives from European ministries of education and stakeholder organisations.
