JOB SHADOWING in Varde; the municipality with an international vision.

Job-Shadowing / Guest teachers.
Varde Kommune is a municipality on the west coast of Denmark with 51.000 inhabitant and 16 schools. It is surrounded by amazing nature and cultural heritage; the Wadden Sea.

Schools in Varde are very interested in international relations and contacts. Thus we want to invite teachers, pedagogues and student teachers from all over the world into our schools. Our aim is to provide pupils in Varde with intercultural skills. By meeting other ways of living, having genuine conversations in a foreign language and experiencing different cultures we can encourage the pupils’ international vision.

Varde has been part of Erasmus+ projects and several teachers have joined the eTwinning community. The department of education has founded a network for the international coordinators, who represent Varde’s 16 schools. The coordinators are engaged in implementing the international dimension and very interested in “inviting the world into the schools of Varde”.

Therefore - we invite you to visit Varde (max 4 teachers from a foreign school/education) and stay for 1 week at one of our schools. We will issue a "certificate of attendance" for you by the end of your stay.

We expect that you speak either English or German, that you make your own travel arrangements (we will provide you with a list of facts; airports, hotels, currency etc.) and that you – during your stay – make a presentation about your school, culture, country to our pupils.

App. 2 weeks before your arrival your contact-school will provide you with a schedule/program.

As a Belgian teacher with our own system of education, this Erasmus+ experience made it possible for us to discover a totally different Danish schoolsystem. We noticed that the use of laptops made it possible for students to work more autonomous on their own pace. Danish teacher is above all a coach, students are responsible for their own learning process. Their aim is to pass the national exam. The organisation of our visit and the interaction with Lisbeth as pedagogic responsable for Varde Commune was very professional. In a meeting with teachers of Varde it was possible to make an exchange of ideas on education.

Hi! My name is Pedro Nunes. I'm a Portuguese teacher, presently working in a school very focused on teaching innovation and on the development of both student's and teacher's digital competences. I just came across your Project proposal and I generically found it the kind of K1 we would love to jump aboard. Would it be possible for you to give us some more details about: - the Project's specific "theme" in the pedagogical area; - the ideal cast in a visitor's team (who is the mobility really aimed to)? I would very much appreciate some light you could shed over this topics. Thank you a lot, Pedro
