Education for Sustainable Development in Tuscany and Umbria
The Association Laboratorio del cittadino NGO is an institution of research, experimentation, application and dissemination of ideas linked to the education and training in the field of environment, sustainable development and citizenship education. It's located in the Trasimeno Lake areas, one of the best national reality for botanic and biodiversity, between Tuscany and Umbria.
Education for sustainable development (ESD) is project for many forms of education, that promotes efforts to rethink educational programmes and systems (both methods and contents) that currently support unsustainable societies. Our current knowledge base does not contain the solutions to contemporary global environmental, societal and economic problems. Today’s education is crucial to the ability of present and future leaders and citizens to create solutions and find new paths to a better future. ESD has essential characteristics that can be implemented in many culturally appropriate forms.
The participants of this experience will approach the following educational and training tools:
- uses a variety of pedagogical techniques that promote participatory learning and higher-order thinking skills.
- addresses content, taking into account context, global issues and local priorities.
- Develop of interdisciplinary approaches and paths. No single discipline can claim ESD for itself; all disciplines can contribute to ESD.
- Studying of formal, non-formal and informal education tools and activities directed to adults and students. In the field and using interactive and ICT tools and instruments.
The dates of the Job Shadowing are open depending on the needs of the participants.
