Discover our Europe

Published: 14.03.2020

The KA 229 Discover our Europe partnership has as a priority the common values, civic engagement and participation.
In the contemporary context in which, on the one hand we find a removal of the population from the urban environment from the national cultural values and, on the other hand, we identify more and more the appearance of discriminatory attitudes regarding the members of different ethnic communities, we have proposed to carry out an activity that will improve the situation we are in. We believe that understanding the culture and civilization of the European peoples will make each of us more aware of our common values and more understanding of cultural diversity.
The motivation of our project is given by the individual needs of the schools involved in the project:
- increasing the interest for national and European cultural values;
- development of key competences through formal and non-formal activities;
- awareness of the importance of belonging to the European community;
- use and development of linguistic and digital skills in collaborative activities with students from European countries in the project;
We believe that only through direct contact with the culture and civilization of a country can we really know and understand certain aspects that learning from textbooks cannot show. Also the direct interaction with students from these countries, teamwork and reaching common goals are motivating to solve the needs identified.
The main objective of our project is to motivate our students to know and understand the cultural and civilization particularities of European countries and to raise awareness of belonging to the European community.
Secondary objectives are:
1. To identify the cultural features characteristic of the national rural environment;
2. To present in an original and creative manner the specific elements of the national culture;
3. To find the common elements of the civilizations of the participating countries (organization, symbols, occupations, traditions, gastronomy);
4. To identify the elements by which the cultural communities studied are differentiated and to find the reasons (geographical, historical, religious, etc.) for these differences;
5. To create, working in a team, a web page in which to virtually build a European village;
