We are the Special Gymnasium and Lyceum of Athens in Greece. Our school is located in a magnificent suburb of East Athens in the Municipality of Heliopolis, at the bottom of mountain Imittos.
The school annually hosts about 100 with movement disabilities students, 12 to 18 years old.
It is a multipurpose center of teaching, care and research on special education. More than 40 special education specialists, teachers, psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists work in our school.
We have emphasized on the development of the social skills of our students and we have incorporated into the curriculum /program cultural and sporting activities, European programs and partnerships with schools from all over Europe.
In our school we offer new methodologies and innovative programs related to ICT, in order to support students with movement disabilities, such as GRID program.
We’d be delighted to host teachers who wished to come and observe our work.

Hello, I am a Spanish teacher in a lower secondary school (11 - 15 years old) in Normandy, France. My school is participating in an Erasmus + KA101 project. Our consortium (local primary school, lower secondary school and special school) would like to work on inclusion of special needs pupils (those with dys conditions, pupils whose mother tongue is not Islandic, disabled and hearing impaired pupils), notably within a modern language teaching context. After much research, we have come to the conclusion that Greece would present an ideal opportunity for us to improve our teaching practices. We would be most grateful if you could allow teachers to carry out a three/four/five-day observation course in your school. We would also welcome the chance to reciprocate the offer for members of your staff. Thank you in anticipation. We look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Laurie Cafier
